Tuberosa – Cherry

Description

Tuberosa are native to Mexico and produce stalks of trumpet like flowers that have an intoxicating scent and throated, waxy blooms. Similar to hyacinth or stock, one stem is capable of filling entire room with the fragrance.

Technically rhizomes, these spread similar to tulips, daffodils and iris. The main tuber blooms once but quickly produces little offshoots that mature and bloom. You can keep the entire clump together or divide/split to multiply your collection.

They thrive in heat with good drainage and will require more frequent watering in sandy soil. Clay soils help to retain water and reduce supplemental watering. Plant near a patio or entryway to enjoy the scent that intensifies in the evening.

Pre-order now to reserve your tuberosa. Delivery expected mid May.

These are not winter hardy and need to dug up like dahlias or cannas.

Some plant in pots and overwinter in a basement or garage that does not freeze.

They grow up to 24-36″ tall

Plant these after Memorial Day, 2-3″ deep 6-8″ apart with pointy side up and water deeply.

Sold as single or small clumps.
